Working in Renton Since 2018
Kitchen Remodeler in Renton
Hunnu Construction has been remodeling kitchens in Renton and south King County since 2018. One crew handles the design, the cabinets, the countertops, the flooring and the backsplash, instead of a different contractor for each piece.

Three trades, one crew
-
Opening up a closed post-war layout, or replacing cabinets and counters in one that already works.
-
Tub-to-shower conversions, vanities, tile and waterproofing, by the crew that did the kitchen.
-
Hardwood, tile and vinyl, including the subfloor repair an older Renton house often needs first.
The Kitchens Renton Already Has
A lot of Renton's housing went up in the 1940s and 50s, and the kitchens in it were built as separate working rooms. A door at each end, a window over the sink, counter runs too short to prep and plate at the same time. The cabinet boxes are often still sound. The room around them is what stopped working.
So on an older Renton kitchen the first question is rarely which finishes to pick. It is whether the wall between the kitchen and the next room is carrying anything, and what moving it costs against what it gives back. Sometimes the answer is that it stays and the room works harder instead: a deeper counter run, the fridge somewhere else, light that reaches the back of the bench. Hunnu Construction has gone both ways on that since 2018, and the walkthrough that settles it costs nothing.
Newer houses south and east of the centre ask the opposite question. The layout is already open and the cabinets were chosen to a builder's budget, so the work is replacement rather than rearrangement, and the money goes into doors, counters and floor instead of framing.
One Job at a Time
Hunnu Construction runs one project and finishes it before starting another. That is the whole scheduling policy, and it is the reason the dates quoted at the start hold.
The practical version is that the crew is on your job every working day, including the slow ones when a floor is curing or a countertop is away being cut. The owner is on site for nearly all of it, so the person who decides what happens when the subfloor comes up is already standing in the room.
How a Kitchen Remodel Runs
-
Week 1
Design Consultation & Material Selection
An in-home visit to measure the space, talk through how the kitchen actually gets used, and choose cabinets, countertops, flooring and backsplash together as one kitchen rather than four separate decisions.
-
Week 2
Demolition & Rough-In
Old cabinets, counters and flooring come out. Anything behind the walls that has to move for the new layout, plumbing or electrical, gets rerun before anything new goes back in.
-
Weeks 3–5
Cabinets, Counters, Floor & Backsplash
Cabinets go in first so counters can be templated once the boxes are square. Flooring and backsplash finish the room, in the order that protects the surfaces already installed.
-
Final Week
Walkthrough & Punch List
A walkthrough of the finished kitchen together, working through any punch-list items before the crew calls the job done.
One Company, or Several
| Aspect | Hunnu Construction | Hiring Separate Contractors |
|---|---|---|
| Who you call | One number, from the first measure to the last punch-list item. | A separate company for cabinets, counters, flooring and tile. You manage every handoff between them. |
| Scheduling | The trades run in a sequence set before demolition starts, not renegotiated mid-job. | Each contractor works their own calendar. A delay in one trade pushes back every trade after it. |
| Design consistency | Finishes picked against each other in one sitting, and against the light the room actually gets. | Each specialist solves their own piece. Matching finishes across all four is left to you. |
| Pricing | One quote, with what demolition might change written into it. | A separate quote, and a separate invoice, from every trade involved. |

After Kitchen Remodeling Services
Five ways to work with Hunnu Construction, from a full renovation down to a single trade.
Kitchen Renovation
When every part of the kitchen has to change, layout and cabinets and counters and floor and backsplash together, that is a full kitchen renovation in Renton rather than a single swapped fixture. It starts with the same design consultation as any project here: an in-home visit to measure the room, work out how the space is actually used day to day, and choose finishes as one kitchen.
Renovation work also covers the structural and rough-in changes a smaller project never touches. Moving plumbing or electrical behind the walls, then rebuilding around the new layout before cabinets go back in.
Kitchen Cabinet Installation
Cabinets set the layout for everything else, which is why kitchen cabinet installation is usually the first trade on site. Boxes go in level and square, screwed into studs rather than drywall, with doors and hardware left until the other trades are finished and out of the room.
It runs as its own project as often as it runs inside a renovation. The existing countertop and floor can stay exactly where they are while only the cabinets change.
Kitchen Countertop Replacement
A countertop is templated to the cabinets underneath it, so kitchen countertop replacement starts with measuring what is actually there rather than what the original plan said. Quartz, granite and solid surface all fabricate differently, and the seam placement gets decided before anything is cut.
Replacing a counter on its own leaves the cabinets, floor and backsplash untouched. Where the old backsplash meets the counter is usually the one place that needs attention afterwards.
Kitchen Floor Replacement
A kitchen floor takes more water and more traffic than any other floor in the house, so kitchen floor replacement starts underneath: checking the subfloor is sound and flat before anything goes down on top of it.
Hardwood, tile and vinyl each sit at a different height, which matters where the kitchen meets the next room and where appliances have to slide in and out.
Kitchen Backsplash Installation
A backsplash is the last of the visible trades, because kitchen backsplash installation stops where the cabinets end and sits on top of the countertop. Both have to be set before the first tile goes on the wall.
Tile choice changes the work more than it looks like it should. A mosaic sheet, a running bond subway and a large-format slab each need different layout, different cuts and different grout.
What a Kitchen Remodel Costs in Renton
There is no price list on this page. A contractor who quotes before seeing the room is quoting a different kitchen.
On Renton's older stock the number usually turns on what demolition finds. Two layers of flooring over the original. A subfloor that was wet at some point near the dishwasher. Wiring that was adequate for a kitchen running two appliances. None of that shows at the walkthrough, so the quote states what is included and what would be a change, rather than pretending the wall is already open.
What Hunnu Construction quotes is labour and construction materials: framing, waterproofing, the wiring inside the wall, mudding, paint. You choose and supply the cabinets, countertop, tile, flooring and hardware. Those are the parts you look at every day, and a contractor who picks them for you picks what suits their supplier.
Payment is cash or check. No credit or debit cards, which is better to know now than at the end. The consultation that produces the quote is free and carries no obligation.
Working in Renton and South King County Since 2018
Hunnu Construction works from NE 10th Street in Renton and covers Kent, Tukwila, Newcastle, Maple Valley, Covington, SeaTac and Mercer Island from there. Most of that is a short drive, which matters less for the build itself than for everything around it: a second measure before cabinets are ordered, a template for the counter, coming back when the shower glass arrives.
The housing across that span is not one thing. Kent and Tukwila sit on the valley floor and run older and lower. Newcastle and Mercer Island are higher and newer. Maple Valley and Covington are mostly later subdivisions where the kitchen is already open and the question is what goes back into it. What changes between them is logistics rather than the work: parking, stairs, and whether the street takes a dumpster during demolition, all settled before day one.

Kitchen Remodeling Questions
- Is Hunnu Construction based in Renton?
- Yes. Hunnu Construction works from NE 10th Street in Renton and has remodeled kitchens here since 2018. There is a second location in Bellevue, on the far side of Lake Washington, which covers the Eastside cities. South King County is worked from Renton.
- What is included in a full kitchen remodel?
- The design consultation, cabinet installation, countertop replacement, floor replacement and backsplash installation, as one project. The same crew handles every trade in sequence, from the first measurement through demolition, rough-in, installation and the final walkthrough. Nothing gets handed to a separate contractor partway through.
- Do you handle the design as well as the installation?
- Yes. Every project starts with an in-home design consultation to measure the actual space and choose cabinets, countertops, flooring and backsplash together. The team that plans the project is the team that installs it.
- How long does a kitchen remodel take?
- It depends on scope. A full renovation, demolition through cabinets, counters, flooring and backsplash, typically runs several weeks. A kitchen with a bathroom alongside it runs about a month and a half to two months. Installing only new cabinets, or replacing only a countertop, is a shorter standalone job.
- What areas do you serve besides Renton?
- Kent, Tukwila, Newcastle, Maple Valley, Covington, SeaTac and Mercer Island across south King County, plus Bellevue and the Eastside. Hunnu Construction has worked across this area since 2018 and brings that to the first walkthrough.
- What forms of payment do you accept?
- Checks and cash. Hunnu Construction does not currently accept credit or debit cards, so it is worth planning payment around that while you are still planning the project. Ask about the schedule of payments during the design consultation.
- Can you install new cabinets without doing a full remodel?
- Yes. Cabinet installation runs as its own project as often as it runs inside a complete renovation. The countertop and floor can stay exactly as they are while only the cabinets change, which keeps both the cost and the timeline well below a full remodel.
- How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Renton?
- It depends on scope, and any contractor who quotes a number before seeing the room is pricing a different kitchen. A single trade like a new countertop costs far less than a full renovation. Every project gets one quote after the design consultation, based on the actual kitchen.
- Do you offer a warranty?
- Yes, a one-year written warranty on our labour. It covers the work, not the finishes you chose and supplied, which carry whatever warranty the manufacturer gives them.
